In the Comune of Todi, there is a new wave of innovative winemakers. These winemakers are taking traditional and international grape varieties to another level. They are re-writing the story of winemaking in the Todi Doc Appellation located within the Canticle Wine Road.

Cantina Peppucci
At the end of the 80s, Piero Peppucci and Luisa Giontella were in search of a country property A place out of their native town Todi where they could raise their children.
The abandoned monastery of S.Antimo looked like the perfect place.
Today their son Filippo Peppucci runs the Estate with passion and innovation The wines are an authentic expression of the land Using native varietals that include both Grechetto di Todi DOC and Sagrantino with a selection of red international varietals.
It is always a memorable visit when you get to meet the winemaker. They are using Filippo as a gracious host filled with knowledge. Estate The tour begins overlooking his prime estate with 13 hectares of viney ards. Estate Filippo designs his wine labels.
The estate leads the way in relaunching Grechetto di Todi and having replanted only Grechetto di Todi as the Estates white vari etal. Estate Filippo was convinced it was possible to elevate the cultivar. Together with winemaker Lorenzo Landi. The Estate produces two exceptional 100% Grechetto di Todi wines Montorsolo Grechetto di Todi DOC and 'I Rovi' Grechetto di Todi Superiore DOC. From 2014 'I Rovi' comes from a selection of the best cru Grechetto di Todi.
Red varietals include Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. 'Petroro 4' is an elegant Umbria Rosso IGT made with Sangiovese. Refined in Stainless Steel Tanks. Brilliant ruby red with fragrant notes of forest fruits. 'l'Altro io' includes the native varietal Sagrantino that is typically harvested in the first months of October. This dessert wine is refined in French Oak for 18 months followed by 12 months in the bottle. The Estate produces 500 bottles of l'Altro io each vintage. This dessert wine can even be enjoyed with savory or a refined cheese charcuterie.
'Giovanni,' is named after Fillippo's firstborn child. Giovanni expresses the quality of estates Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the 'Vigna dei Sassi' that translates to the 'vines on the rocks'. A production that is limited to only 5000 bottles. Depending on the year Cabernet Sauvignon is combined with Merlot and Cabernet Franc.

Filippo Peppucci grew up with Luca Baccarelli. Luca is the owner of Roccafiore. A Sustainable Wine Resort. The Baccarelli Family has created more than a beautiful boutique resort. Agri Segretum
Twenty years ago winemaker Lorenzo de Monaco began planting original varieties Sangiovese and Sagrantino. Today Agrisegretum is a part of the new Todi DOC appellation.
Located in the Tiber Valley between Todi and Perugia at an altitude of 300metres above sea level. Traditionally the grapes grown in this area were taken to cooperative wineries to produce table wines. Agri Segretum has changed that image to produce a quality production.
It is not surprising the Estates, most well-known wine is 'Pottarello'is listed in 'Pottarello'is Gold guide to Italian Wines.
Pottarello is made with 80% Sangiovese, 10% Malvasia Nera and 10% Colorino.
